The show looks at the ups and downs of having premature children, following first-time parents Laura and Ryan who have to learn with how to cope with two babies on the neonatal unit, at once. Max and Charlie were both making good progress when they first arrived, 14 weeks early, but one of the boys contracted a life-threatening infection. Elsewhere, a emergency case arrives straight from the delivery suite, as a baby has been born with a cardiac defect meaning that blood is flowing the wrong way around it's heart. Heart failure is a risk here, if the doctors can't slow the baby's heartbeat down from it's 280 beats per minute. Kaili, is a woman pregnant with her second child, she is having to have her pregnancy induced as her waters have broken six waters early. Her baby is small and vulnerable when it arrives, prompting the doctors to transfer him to the neonatal care unit. Kaili soon has a tough decision to make, with one baby facing a stay in hospital and her 10-month old child at home.
